12 YEARS AGO......
2006: "build it and they will come" is a line from the 1989 Kevin Costner movie Field of Dreams. Similar to the movie, the Tecumseh Baseball Club, upon a donation of land by the Clapp family of Tecumseh, raised this facility from a corn field in 1943. Back in the days of simpler times, this ball park was jammed to the rafters with baseball fans and cars were parked side by side all around the outfield to take in a weekend game. Countless hours of donated time and labour has allowed thousands of ball players strive to realize their dreams in baseball some of whom moved on to pro and semi-pro careers.
Earl Minnis states, this is my 10th season as groundkeeper here at Lacasse Park as the Tecumseh Baseball Club celebrates its 65th anniversary. Along with my friend and co-worker Don Fields, we continue the tradition of providing a fine facility for the game of baseball.
