Lacasse Baseball Park Upgrades
6/27/2013

The Government of Canada, Town of Tecumseh and the Tecumseh Baseball Club Celebrated the Grand Re-Opening of the Bert Lacasse Baseball Field on June 27th. Even though there was no game able to be played afterwards because of the rain, the opening Night Ceremony still took place with great success!

In total, $500,000 has been invested in park improvements, these include the replacement of the field lighting, construction of a new electrical building, expansion of the outfield dimensions, installing a warning track around the inside perimeter of the fencing and improved drainage.

Awarded a Government of Canada Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund grant of $166,600 in January 2012 and another $248,330 from the Town of Tecumseh in February 2012, the Club also raised $85,000 in order to support the full cost of renovations to the park. Part of this money has been raised with the help of sponsorships who’s signs you will see around the park fence.

Dignitaries from the Government of Canada and the Town of Tecumseh will be on hand to speak about and celebrate the park upgrades as well as representatives from St Clair College, as the 2012 National Championship baseball team will be calling Bert Lacasse Field their home for a second season in a row.

Steve Bell, Sports Director for am800 cklw news will emcee the event.
